OF FOOD event during National Restaurant Association
Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show Event to raise support
for charitable 2006 celebrity chef projects
(Chicago,
Ill.) - Chefs for Humanity will host
the Art of Food fundraising and media event on
Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Art Institute of
Chicago 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. during the 2006
National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel
Show®. This event will promote and support
the organization's celebrity chef projects for
2006, including emergency and humanitarian aid
projects, hunger mission work and nutrition education
projects. A kick-off press conference on the Show's
exhibit floor will be held on Saturday, May 20,
at the Association's booth #6300 in McCormick
Place.
This
special fundraiser and media event will feature
four amazing galleries of artwork, which will
be created by nationally and/or regionally recognized
chefs, including Chefs for Humanity President
Cat Cora and Charter Chef Council Chair Ming Tsai.
From the group of Council Chefs, Art Smith, Robert
St. John, Joanne Boundy, Grant MacPherson, Charlie
Ayers and Gale Gand are contributing artworks.
Other well-known chefs Mary Sue Milliken, Susan
Feniger, Todd English, Martha Foose and others
will be contributing their creations. An exciting
post-event party will follow at Millennium Park
and will be as special as the artwork undertaken
by this group of committed humanitarian chefs.
"We
are excited about hosting our Art of Food event
during the NRA Show, and providing the opportunity
for the Show's 73,000 attendees to see great art
by great chefs," said Chefs for Humanity
President Cat Cora, who is also the first female
Iron Chef America. "We hope to highlight
the dedication of our chefs to charitable activities
and helping those in need, as well as that food
is not only enjoyable on the plate, but is also
a great medium for art."
To
promote the event and activities of both Chefs
for Humanity and the National Restaurant Association,
a joint press conference will be held at the Restaurant,
Hotel-Motel Show, which runs May 20-23 at McCormick
Place, at the Association's exhibit booth (#6300,
at the entrance of the North Hall, Level 3) on
Saturday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. The press conference
will feature Chefs for Humanity council members,
chefs participating in Art of Food, and representatives

Tickets
for the Art of Food event and party are limited
and can be purchased on the Chefs for Humanity

$150. The price includes the art gallery show
and after party in Millennium Park. Proceeds of
the event will benefit Chefs for Humanity and
its partner projects.
