(Chicago, Ill.) - Chefs for Humanity will host the Art of Food fundraising and media event on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Art Institute of Chicago 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. during the 2006 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show®. This event will promote and support the organization's celebrity chef projects for 2006, including emergency and humanitarian aid projects, hunger mission work and nutrition education projects. A kick-off press conference on the Show's exhibit floor will be held on Saturday, May 20, at the Association's booth #6300 in McCormick Place.

This special fundraiser and media event will feature four amazing galleries of artwork, which will be created by nationally and/or regionally recognized chefs, including Chefs for Humanity President Cat Cora and Charter Chef Council Chair Ming Tsai. From the group of Council Chefs, Art Smith, Robert St. John, Joanne Boundy, Grant MacPherson, Charlie Ayers and Gale Gand are contributing artworks. Other well-known chefs Mary Sue Milliken, Susan Feniger, Todd English, Martha Foose and others will be contributing their creations. An exciting post-event party will follow at Millennium Park and will be as special as the artwork undertaken by this group of committed humanitarian chefs.

"We are excited about hosting our Art of Food event during the NRA Show, and providing the opportunity for the Show's 73,000 attendees to see great art by great chefs," said Chefs for Humanity President Cat Cora, who is also the first female Iron Chef America. "We hope to highlight the dedication of our chefs to charitable activities and helping those in need, as well as that food is not only enjoyable on the plate, but is also a great medium for art."

To promote the event and activities of both Chefs for Humanity and the National Restaurant Association, a joint press conference will be held at the Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, which runs May 20-23 at McCormick Place, at the Association's exhibit booth (#6300, at the entrance of the North Hall, Level 3) on Saturday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. The press conference will feature Chefs for Humanity council members, chefs participating in Art of Food, and representatives from the Association. Media interested in attending the press conference should contact dhull@dineout.org or 312-853-2522 to gain access to the Show.

"The Chefs for Humanity's Art of Food event underscores that restaurants are the cornerstone of local communities across the U.S. and that industry professionals are committed to supporting their neighbors during challenging times," said Steven C. Anderson, president and chief executive officer of the National Restaurant Association. "And what better time and place to bring awareness and educate others about the amazing charitable projects by these celebrity chefs than during our Show, which gathers more industry professionals under one roof than any other industry event."

Tickets for the Art of Food event and party are limited and can be purchased on the Chefs for Humanity Web site (www.chefsforhumanity/artoffood) for $150. The price includes the art gallery show and after party in Millennium Park. Proceeds of the event will benefit Chefs for Humanity and its partner projects.
